South Africa is currently in Winter's firm grasp. With abundant rain in the fairest of all Capes, snow covering parts of the Drakensberg, and an icy chill on the highveld. Added to the looming petrol price hike, there does not seem to be much to celebrate in a cold Johannesburg.
However, Old Ed's caterers have swooped in to rescue all members from such times, and have once again produced specials that will warm the cockles of all our hearts.
The current offering of the mushroom soup and mutton curry are a delight.
Both are firm favourites of mine, and are most enjoyable.
It is worth braving Johannesburg's traffic to go to the not club to have the meals, even if you are not participating in any of the many sporting codes offered at the Society.
Firmly ensconced behind one, or both, of the specials, all your cares simply disappear as you give yourself over to the specials.
Please, though, remember that the 10% member discount does not apply to the specials - the specials are special enough!
The Society boasts some ten sub clubs, and is the leading Old Boys club in Gauteng, if not the country. The Society has produced Springboks/Proteas and administrators in all the major sports at all levels. The Society offers outstanding facilities for sport and for catering, Conferences and Group meetings. The society fervently believes in the traditions, ethos and principles of King Edward VII High School. The Society strives to nurture and protect such proud traditions and great legacy.
